2024 RCAF Centenary Tour

Professor Graham Broad (King’s at Western) and Dr. Mike Bechthold will lead the group through a tour with special emphasis on the contribution of Canada’s Air Force to victory.

The group will travel to the UK, where they will tour sites in Yorkshire, Cambridge, and London. They will then travel to France to visit Vimy Ridge, First World War aerodromes, and battlefields. The tour will also include important sites in Normandy, including Dieppe, Juno Beach, the Falaise Gap and Verrières Ridge.

The Foundation offers a bursary to each successful applicant, but requires them to contribute $1250 towards the cost of the tour, which includes air and ground travel from Toronto, accommodation, meals, and study materials. Travel to and from Toronto is not covered and must be defrayed by the applicant.

Students will be expected to prepare for the trip, lead on-site discussions, including a short biography of a Canadian soldier buried or memorialized along our route. They will also blog their experiences.

Candidates will have to submit two letters of reference (at least one from a professor), transcripts (unofficial are acceptable) and complete the registration form.
